What is Float Therapy?
Can it relieve pain?
The effect of sensory deprivation tank therapy on chronic pain has been confirmed by several studies. It is shown to be effective in treating tension headaches, muscle tension, and pain.
A small study of seven participants found it effective in treating whiplash-associated disorders, such as neck pain and stiffness and reduced range of motion. It has also been shown to reduce stress-related pain.

Can It Improve Sleep?
Float therapy can have a number of benefits for sleep, including:
Relaxation: The quiet and dark environment of a float tank can promote a deep state of relaxation, which can help to prepare the body and mind for sleep.
Stress relief: Floating can help to reduce muscle tension and mental stress, which can make it easier to fall asleep and stay asleep.
Improved sleep quality: The lack of external stimuli in a float tank can help to improve the quality of sleep by reducing interruptions and allowing for deeper, more restful sleep.
Increased melatonin production: The dark and quiet environment of a float tank can help to increase the production of melatonin, a hormone that regulates sleep.
Pain relief: The buoyancy of the water in a float tank can help to relieve pain and discomfort, which can make it easier to fall asleep and stay asleep.
Increased circulation: The buoyancy of the water in a float tank can help to improve blood flow and oxygenation to the body, which can promote better sleep.
Improved mindfulness: The sensory deprivation tank can help to improve mindfulness, which can help with falling asleep and staying asleep.

Floating step-by-step guide
1. First Time?
If it is your first time floating(or you just need a refresher) we will walk you through an orientation upon arrival. This will include a tour of the float suite or pod. Please come 15 minutes prior to your appointment if you require an orientation.
2. Contacts & Jewelry
If you wear contacts, don’t forget to take them out. Same goes for jewelry. Neither may fare well in the 30% salt solution.
3. Pre-float Shower
Prior to floating, you will take a shower to thoroughly remove all dirt and oils from your hair and body. Please do not use conditioner in the pre-float shower.
4. Bathing Suits
It is advised to float without a bathing suit as to minimize the tactile sensory input. However, if you would feel more comfortable with one, that is fine too.
5. Cuts or Abrasions
If you have any small cuts or abrasions, apply a thin layer of Vaseline (provided) to the area to avoid irritation from the salt water.
6. Excess Water
Wipe all excess water from your face before entering the tank. This helps avoid the possible distraction of that water dripping down your face while floating.
7. Enter Tank Slowly
Enter the tank slowly. First-time floaters are often surprised by the buoyancy of the water. Begin by sitting and then lying back so that you are facing the ceiling of the tank.
8. Close Door & Turn off Lights
Close the door of the tank and push the light button to turn off the lights.
9. Experience Begins
The experience begins. We can play intro music to transition you into the float if you would like. We can also advise as to some mental exercises that will allow you to let go of the outside world and fully enjoy this alone time.
At the end of the session, we will pipe in some music to gently bring you back. At this point, you will turn the lights back on and exit the tank. Be sure to push your hair back from your forehead when sitting up to avoid salt water in your eyes.
Another shower is advised to remove all of the salt water from your hair and body…both of which will feel silky and smooth due the Epsom Salt.
